What Arcal 21?

Expertly mixed for high-travel speed and high-deposition rate MAG welding of carbon steels, ARCAL™ 21 is the essential arc welding gas when weld time is a critical factor and is ideal for automatic and robotic applications.

What is Arcal?

ARCAL™ ARCAL™ offers a full range of high-quality, ready-to-use shielding gas solutions. ARCAL gases are used in arc welding, root shielding, plasma cutting, TIG welding and MIG/MAG welding. Pure and stable, our gases and mixtures are compliant with ISO 14175 and AWS-A5.

How does ARCAL work?

This pilot activated lighting is called ARCAL, which stands for Aircraft Radio Control of Aerodrome Lighting. To activate Type J ARCAL, click the microphone five times within five seconds. This turns all the lights on for fifteen minutes. To activate Type K ARCAL, click the microphone seven times within five seconds.

What is ARCAL type K?

There are two types of ARCAL systems — type J and type K. Once activated, the intensity of type K systems may then be turned to low, medium, or high intensity settings by keying the microphone three, five, or seven times within five seconds, respectively.

How do I activate Arcal?

To activate Type J ARCAL, click the microphone five times within five seconds. This turns all the lights on for fifteen minutes. To activate Type K ARCAL, click the microphone seven times within five seconds. The trick with Type K is that they are special, like Special K, the breakfast cereal (that’s our new mnemonic).

Do I use CTAF or Unicom?

You call “Traffic” on the CTAF when you are self reporting your position. You are not soliciting of expecting a response. You are talking to other aircraft. You call “Unicom” when you are expecting a response from someone at a ground station.

What frequency do pilots use?

If you wish to talk to the pilot of another airplane, use the air-to-air frequency of 122.75 MHz. It is not considered good etiquette to fill other frequencies with pilot-to-pilot chats. VOR frequencies are between 108.0 and 117.975 MHz, immediately below aviation communication frequencies beginning at 118.0.

What is difference between Unicom and CTAF?

Do all airports have Unicom?

An airport may have a full or part‐time tower or FSS located on the airport, a full or part‐time UNICOM station or no aeronautical station at all.

Is listening to air traffic control illegal?

This means that it is illegal to listen to anything other than general reception transmissions unless you are either a licensed user of the frequencies in question or have been specifically authorized to do so by an authorized person.

How are ARCAL gases used in arc welding?

ARCAL gases are used in arc welding, root shielding, plasma cutting, TIG welding and MIG/MAG welding. Our pure gases and gas mixes are also available in bulk mixing installations. With minimized oxidation and spatter rates, and lower defect rates, we make sure that our solutions always offer higher productivity and increased efficiency for you.

What kind of shielding does ARCAL prime use?

ARCAL™ Prime. ARCAL Prime is our primary high-quality shielding product for most welding situations. These include TIG and plasma welding of all materials including titanium, MIG welding of aluminum and copper alloys, and universal root shielding of all materials.

What can ARCAL force be used for on a ship?

ARCAL™ Force. ARCAL Force is our most powerful ready-to-weld solution for MAG welding of heavy carbon steel structures. From earthmoving and agricultural equipment to bridge building and ship modules, ARCAL Force was engineered with heavy use in mind.
