The CogAT is a group administered cognitive abilities test that assesses verbal, quantitative, and non-verbal abilities. The CogAT is NOT an IQ test; it focuses specifically on reasoning skills that are related to school success. The CogAT may be administered on a computer or on paper.

How many questions are in the COGAT form 7?

In total, the CogAT has between 118 and 176 questions, depending on the level. How the test is administered depends on your child’s grade, school, and the CogAT Form s/he is taking. Here is what we do know about the CogAT Form 7 administration: Your child is likely to take the test with a small group of students (no more than 20)

How long does it take for a COGAT battery?

Students are generally provided between 30-45 minutes per battery. With administration time, it takes between two to three hours to complete all three batteries. What is the stanine score on the COGAT test?

A stanine is a very broad, simplified normalized score that ranges from 1-9. 9 is the highest possible score and 1 is the lowest score. A student’s CogAT profile is based on the pattern of scores from the administration of the three tests that are part of the CogAT (verbal, quantitative, non-verbal).
